Waiting Can Be Savory

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him!" ~Psalm 62:5

Hello there!  Glad to have you stop by my blog today!  :)  I seem to write quite a bit of posts on the subject of waiting! Lol! But, there's so much to learn about waiting in life and I'm always excited to share new truths regarding it that God blesses my heart with! :)

"Waiting". It really isn't a word that your mind connects to "savory" is it?  LOL!  I don't know about you, but I really don't tend to feel that the aspect of waiting in life is very "tasty"!  Yet, here I am writing a blog post titled, "Waiting Can Be Savory".  Why is this???  Well, it's because it's sooooo very true that waiting times can truly be "tasty"!!!

Just imagine that the crock pot pictured above is sitting on your kitchen countertop full of your favorite meat, vegetables and seasonings!  MMMmmm!  It takes awhile for that meal to reach it's "ready to partake" point doesn't it?  But, is it not SOOO TOTALLY worth the wait?!!  It's just not the same if that same meal was put into a microwave is it? ;)   That slow cooking meal lets off such a pleasant fragrance too!!  Doesn't your mouth water when the aroma of a crock-pot meal goes wafting through the house? And isn't that just the most savory taste, when the wait is over and you can eat it up?!

Well, my friend, that yummy "scenario" that we just pretended to be in, is actually very similar to how waiting on the Lord for anything in life can be, if you choose to see it that way!  When we wait on the Lord with a patient and grateful heart, we are choosing to believe that He is "cooking up" something that is so much better than a instant "zap" and wala answer.  (Even though He does know when those are good to give you. :)  I'm talking about when He's called you to "wait".)

The Merriam-Webster dictionary gave these definitions for "Savory".
1) Having a pleasant taste or smell - piquantly pleasant to the mind (a savory triumph)
2) Morally exemplary: edifying
3) Pleasing to the sense of taste especially by reason of effective seasoning

Isn't that so interesting?!!  A person that is waiting on the Lord and is savoring being in His will in the waiting times, let's off a sweet "aroma" to all those around them!  They have chosen to taste and see that God is good and that indeed is a "savory triumph!"  To wait with a grateful heart shows moral excellence and is very edifying!!!!  It's choosing God's character whether our feelings are on board or not!  To wait on the Lord and trusting His plan is indeed an incredible "seasoning" to life with blessings to be had now and for eternity!!!!

Psalm 130:5
"I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope."

Psalm 34:8-9
"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him."

Blessings to you in your waiting times in life!  View it as a savory crock-pot of goodness!  And let your "mouth water" in anticipation for the time that God says, "It's ready!!!" ;)
