Speak Life

Hey there friends!  Hope your week is going great!

Today's post is a simple exhortation (that I'm totally speaking to myself too!).  It's regarding something God had laid on my heart years ago about the power of the spoken word.  

Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..."  

As I thought on that verse years ago - this phrase came to mind. {Speak life to the Spirit and death to the flesh, not death to the Spirit and life to the flesh!}   
Just take another second and re-read that phrase - isn't it incredibly humbling to think about the power that our words have on a spiritual level?!  Everyday satan is out to get people to think wrongly and falsely and to start to believe those lies.  We have the awesome opportunity everyday to speak life (truth) to ourselves and to others and in doing so - we are, through Christ, defeating evil and vanquishing lies!  

Matthew 12:34b and 36  "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh..."  "But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."

Proverbs 12:22 "Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight."

Proverbs 18:7 "A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul."

Speak life dear friends!  Use your words to not be a snare to your soul, but to "deal truly" and to delight the heart of the Lord (which impacts GENERATIONS to come)!
