Negativity Distorts Reality

Praying that today's post will put a "pep" of joy in your step! ;)


I listened to an excellent sermon recently and one phrase REALLY stood out to me.  The pastor said, "negativity distorts reality".  Wow.  I thought, "Is that not crazy true or what?!"  Never quite heard it put exactly like that before though!  First of all let me say that I am TOTALLY a glass half full kinda girl.  I like to think that positive is my second middle name! ;)  Lol! Not really, but kinda! Lol!  But, even in the midst of me thinking positive and living out positive  - I sure can embrace negativity inwardly. The way I embrace it is mostly in thoughts toward myself, which by the way is a TOTAL a tactic of satan!  Ugh.  I can let a small thought creep in and before I know it - it's attached itself to my thinking and belief system.  Not cool.  What's funny is - I am SOOOO totally an advocate for not thinking negatively of one's self and yet it happens to me too.

All this to say that this post has one simple mission: Mission DEFENSE and OFFENSE with the secret weapon of joy!  When a team is down in score and they let the feeling of that get them down - they distort reality and end up letting the "down" feeling override their belief system - it affects the way they play.    Thinking negatively in life affects the way we live!  It's a disease designed by satan to infect our thinking and make us believe lies.  It's meant to make us see life in a dark view.  The amazing thing is  - that disease has got nothing on our defense and offense system that God has set in place for us to use, with joy being the actual not - so - secret weapon! Lol! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "go to a happy place of no hardship where it's a perfect world and ignore everything sad."  No, that's not reality, but what IS reality is that God is perfect, joy (a deep abiding in God's goodness) is available in any hard circumstance (even in the midst of sorrow) and negativity is just no good.  Negativity is a choice.  Joy is a choice.  And Joy debunks negativity just like rock beats scissors, but in a bigger way!!!!!! ;)

Don't let negativity distort your reality in any way, shape or form friends!  Nothing good lives in that place inwardly and/or outwardly.  Choose joy - choose the reality of God's power over ANYTHING!  Use God's Word, the Holy Spirit and truth thoughts as your defense and offense against satan's scheming tactics! You're on the winning team no matter what discouraging things or thoughts you face when you let the Coach of all coaches - God Almighty - guide you in everything!  HIS is the victory!

P.S. Help other negative thinkers that you know pull out negativity at the roots and show them how to plant truth in it's place and reap joy! :)
