Eye Contact

Hi there!  I'm excited to have you stop by my blog today! Praying it's a happy note to your heart today!

Eye contact.  What comes to mind when you think on those two words (positive aspects that is)?  I was thinking on that and here are some of my thoughts...

Eye contact:
Shows reverence and respect and is a blessing, Demonstrates genuine interest, acknowledges worth, can create clear communication, gives confidence, reveals intent, shows the soul, calms fears, promotes focus, speaks volumes without words, and shares a bond.

I realize that some of those can apply to eye contact between strangers and others between two people that know each other really well, but typing out that list was a neat exercise of thought for me and only made me a bigger fan of eye contact!  It seems to be becoming more and more of a lost life art!
But, that's not really the focus of this post.  The focus of this post was to simply share with you what has been on my heart of late - the importance of keeping my eyes on Jesus.

It's so important to keep our eyes on Jesus, to have "eye contact" with Him.  Now, I know that we don't physically see Jesus' eyes everyday, but the truth is very applicable!  To lock eyes with Jesus, is to keep the eternal Kingdom in the forefront of our focus here on earth.  To make decisions that please God, not mankind.  To live with our mind, will, and emotions constantly kept in subjection to God's will - with a humble heart.  To think of others before ourself.  To commune with the heart of God by being in His Word and talking to Him.  To trust Him with all-out-abandon!  THAT is what locking eyes with Jesus is like.  Taking eyes off of Him is so easy to do, but so is making the decision to keep them on Him!  Choose the latter friends!

When we focus on Him, each one of those descriptions of what eye contact looks like, becomes SO VERY TRUE of life with Him.  When we lock eyes with Jesus we give Him respect and reverence and receive great blessing from blessing Him.  When we gaze into His gaze - we see His genuine interest in us (which is truly deep - actually breathtakingly deep!) and we see our worth to Him.  When we look up into our Savior's face there is a clear communication of direction and an empowering boost of confidence and a calm that replaces our fears.  We see the intent of His heart and the passion of His will.  We realize His focus and are filled with trust and are bonded in a very special way to the King of the Universe.  We sense and believe His love.

I'd say that's a pretty spectacular experience that I don't want to miss out on!  What about you?!

"Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God!" -Hebrews 12:2

"Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee!" - Proverbs 4:26

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection (fond attachment, love, and devotion) on things above, not on things on the earth.  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God!" - Colossians 3:1-3

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace!"  - Hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus"

Blessings to you as you live with your eyes locked on Jesus and focused on what His heart wants you to be focused on!!!  Life is blessed when you do!
