Stepping Out on the Water

"Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps!" ~Psalms 85:13

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week!  

I'm going to be doing a mini series of posts on the topic of faith and am excited to share them!  Praying God uses this to boost your faith and encourage your heart! :)

This first post in the series is to give your soul some "faith food for thought"! ;) In the Bible (Matthew 14) there's the incredible true story of a boat out on the sea in a troublesome wind storm.  I've been tossed around some by waves before, but I'm sure it was nothing compared to what they were experiencing!  I'm sure it was scary!  Suddenly the men (Jesus' disciples) see a man walking toward them on the water.  Yeah, that's right - WALKING on the water!  I bet they rubbed their eyes and looked again just to make sure what they were seeing was actually happening!  It says they cried out in fear and thought it was a spirit.  As they are troubled and fearful, they hear a voice saying, "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid."  Peter, one of the men on the boat answered and said, "Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto thee on the water." (Brave guy. Whew.)  And Jesus said, "Come."  So he did.  He stepped out on the water and walked on it - headed toward Jesus.  But then it happens -He looks around and the wind and waves make him afraid and he starts to sink.  He cries out to the Lord to save him! Immediately Jesus reaches out His hand and catches him and says, "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

Peter took his eyes off of the One He trusted and focused in on the circumstances around him.  Fear and doubt then caused him to begin to drown, that's what fear and doubt do.  They drag down the soul who entertains them. Yet, the One He trusted in at the beginning was indeed trustworthy. He never became un-trustworthy. He was steadfast from before Peter stepped out, during Peter's walk and after!  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever!  Blessed be His Name!!!!!! 

What about you?  Would you have been that brave if you had been on that boat?  Are you eager to step out on the water, even in a storm, lock eyes with Jesus and walk on the waves?  You can!  What are you waiting for? ;)

Another wave of doubt 

Will it pull you under

What if I'm overtaken

What if no one's there 

Will you hear my prayer 

When you take that first step 

Into the unknown 

You know that He won't let you go 

So what are you waiting for 

What do you have to lose

Your insecurities

They try to hold to you

But you know you're made for more 

So don't be afraid to move 

Your faith is all it takes 

And you can walk on the water too

So get out and let your fear fall to the ground 

No time to waste, don't wait

And don't you turn around, and miss out on

Everything you were made for

Gotta be, I know you're not sure, more 

So you play it safe, you try to run away

If you take that first step 

Into the unknown 

He won't let you go 

So what are you waiting for

What do you have to lose

Your insecurities

They try to hold to you

So don't be afraid to move

And you can walk on the water too 

Step out, even when it's storming

Step out, even when you're broken

Step out, even when your heart is telling you, telling

you to give up 

Step out, when your hope is stolen

Step out, you can't see where you're going 

You don't have to be afraid

So what are you waiting, what are you waiting for

So what are you waiting for

What do you have to lose

So don't be afraid to move
